Aṣhẹ (pronounced: AH-sheh) is a supernatural energy and force that governs the Ancient-World capable of enacting various types of powers resulting in environmental changes. It can be tapped into and used by various beings with the proper focus and training. With an aided eye aṣhẹ can look like colored "steam" coming off of it's subject before molded by the one(s) using it. Although aṣhẹ naturally comes to use by the likes of the Kasairi and Taurari, it does exist around and in everything on the planet including gods, human ancestors, spirits, humans, animals, nature and in language such as songs, prayers, praises, curses, or even everyday conversation.[1] "Universal Aṣhẹ" was a phrase used by Iya to impose the idea onto her student that multiple kinds of aṣhẹ are accessible throughout the land.[2]
Origin[]
"Aṣhẹ" is essential to all life-forces, land and inanimate objects as explained by Ìyá.[3] Although not always visible to the naked eye, aṣhẹ - when concentrated in high amounts can be seen unaided. An example of this is when Harnuphis's eyes hit the darkness, source aṣhẹ is activated allowing her to see in the dark, or when certain techniques that require a large amount of aṣhẹ are used Source can be seen in various shades of blue. Aṣhẹ is the Leza suppressed into an energy form.[4] During the 2nd World Age, the Masabai were the first to “discover” aṣhẹ through contact with ships called Karfe Stars, pyramid crafts driven by mysterious pilots. These crafts were infused with it[5], they also spread the knowledge of how to garner aṣhẹ to each other, this historically became known as the “Masabai Trail”. Once the Eight Ancestors came about they also dedicated their lives to spreading the power of the aṣhẹ. The Ancestors became more influential than the Masabai in divvying the knowledge. Once the war broke out between the Great Eight races, spiritualists, servants and progenitors of the aṣhẹ, known as the Ìyààmi would emerge to try and quell conflict through rebalance.[6]
Aṣhẹ Imprint[]
Because aṣhẹ is given to all beings, all beings have "aṣhẹ imprints" that are recorded on the "Great Circle of Time" from birth until death and beyond. An "imprint" is encoded with information that surrounds a life form and can be sensed by others. Once it is locked onto, it can be tracked, grow and diminish based on its host.[7] The flow of aṣhẹ differs from a signature, the flow occurs naturally based on the gender of the being where as a signature is based on the aṣhẹ being exerted at any given moment from said being.
Aṣhẹ Akoso[]
Aṣhẹ Akoso (“translated: power control”) is a form of aṣhẹ usage that grants a living being the ability to mount surfaces once a vast amount of aṣhẹ sent to a certain part of the body. Examples of this include, walking on water and standing on surfaces that an average person would slide or fall off.[8]
Aṣhẹ Based Weapons[]
Sandha[]
Aṣhẹ when harnessed, can be channeled into objects to create weapons, the Sandha being an example. The blade of the Sandha depends on the user for example the Third Ancestor's blade is curved whereas Harnuphis's blade is straight.
Ōpele Whip[]
Was a type of weapon famously wielded by the Third Ancestor who imbued it with source aṣhẹ, the hilt of a Sandha was used - followed by Ōpele seeds (hence the name) which were enlarged then used to link together the energy forming a whip. This weapon was one of the only weapons that the Eighth Ancestor showed visible awe toward.[9] The Ōpele Whip was also used to lasso and defeat the corrupted ifa, Ṣubú.
Irofa Staff[]
Aṣhẹ Infused Items[]
Aṣhẹ is capable of being infused into objects by a host, even though all living and inanimate things on Kasa have aṣhẹ, an object infused with it can and often will flare up as if engulfed in a flame. This is a natural reaction to a foreign "force" activating the energy within it.
Ōpele Seeds[]
Ōpele seeds were basic seeds used by the Third Ancestor in combat that were infused with ashe (which formed a "link") that connected the other seeds to the hilt of the Third's Sandha where he wielded it.
