“I regret teaching you my Ìyípadà technique” the Eighth Ancestor deliberates “now I trust no beast with my own eyes” rounding out his observation. - The Eighth Ancestor (to the Seventh Ancestor)
Ìyípadà Technique (translation: changing technique) is a transformation first seen canonically in The Blue Madjai and performed by Iya the Agutan. The technique was created by the Eighth Ancestor to hide his true identity.[1]
Overview[]
Created by the Eighth Ancestor, the technique allows the user to transform into an animal at will and stay in that body for long periods of time. Up to hours or even days. The master of the technique is also given the ability to speak as that animal as well.
History[]
Energy Manual arc[]
During the "Battle of the Beginning" the Eighth Ancestor took the form of a bird-like creature where he would hover over Ḳasa, once he spotted the Seventh Ancestor whom had taken the form a serpent-like creature, they did battle until they came out of their animal forms. The Masabai Shadow was intimidated by the idea that the Eighth Ancestor could be in any form watching them.[1]
The Blue Madjai arc[]
Harnuphis ask Iya how she transformed into a sheep in which she replies "it's too embarrassing".[2] Iya is able to maintain the eyes of a sheep while in her human form.
As a Disease[]
"Bulcanthropy" is a "disorder" inflicted though the blood that effects a person's aṣhẹ, where the inflicted has no choice but to transform into a bultungun. This is a form of Ìyípadà.
