20s A Difficult Age Wiki

“Ōrula of the Kunamu, protector of the Third Temple, we give you the sight of the Kunama, the eyes to control the aṣhẹ linked to the water like the vastness of the sea so will you see”. - Mother Fertility (to the Third Ancestor)

The Kunama (The Kunama Eye; pronunciation Coo-NAH-ma, translation: Scorpion Eye or Eye of the Scorpion) is an Oju Iyipada that made its first visual canonical appearance in The Blue Madjai - Vol. 1, wielded by Harnuphis. The Kunama in-fact was first acquired by the Third Ancestor and named after his race, the Kunamu.[1]

History[]

Acquisition[]

Source, powers the Kunama eye. Kunama are inherited from birth and as the wielder grows older in age their eyes can glow brighter depending on their energy level. During the day or in natural light, the Kunama eyes return to the "natural" color of its host.

Transformation[]

Abilities[]

Harnuphis-Eyes

Harnuphis's Kunama eyes activated in the dark.

With practice, anyone who possesses the Kunama are able to see up to three miles ahead of their location. When a person with Kunama eyes is engulfed in darkness even if temporary, source energy is activated and travels to the eyes, allowing them to see in the dark. It is also dully noted, that when angry, the Kunama enflames and can physically emit source energy from it, visually appearing as a steamy mist coming from the eye to an onlooker.

When certain techniques that require a large amount of ashe are used their eyes emit large amounts of source causing their entire eye to glow. Usually the source energy becomes "diluted" and changes to a turquoise color. The engulfed turquoise color signifies that the user is using uncontrolled source.
