Nibi (b. Ūga Anwu) was a Alkebulan male whom we first encountered during Harnuphis's first visit to Wagadu Mandé, he is portrayed as being a joker, making fun of the fact that (in his mind) Harnuphis is searching for the mythical, Iya the Agutan. Nibi was afflicted with bulcanthropy forcing him to turn into a bultungin.

Nibi interrupts Harnuphis while she is sitting in front of the "Leaning House", Nibi speaking Yoruba - pokes fun at Harnuphis for sitting in the abandoned yard of Iya, who has become a myth of sorts. Harnuphis exclaims she cannot understand Nibi and ask again if Iya is at the home but he continues explaining that she is arrogant for searching for Iya the "sheep demon".
Unsure what he is saying she follows his banter and picks up that he is alluding to the sheep pen then asks again, where Iya is. Watching from the sheep pen, Iya leaps from the pen and transforms into her human form, surprising both Nibi and Harnuphis. Afraid and confirming the legend to be true Nibi runs away in fear.

Etymology
Nibi translation in Sanskrit means "to spread".
