An Iyaami wearing traditional robes

An Iyaami wearing traditional robes. Illustrated by Marcus Orelias,

The Ìyààmi (pronounced: E-yah-mee; translation: Super Powerful Ones; sometimes referred to as The Great Ìyààmi[1]) were spiritualists, apprentices, scientist and somewhat gatekeepers of aṣhẹ, dispatched by the Leza to quell disturbances where misuses of ashe were involved.

History[]

During the war of Great Eight races, in an effort to quell the brewing conflict between worlds, Ìyààmi were dispatched with the hope that they could restore balance to the once peaceful and harmonious eight races. A task the Ìyààmi were cultured in doing on behalf of the Leza, but their efforts were no match for the rising power and influence of the Eighth Ancestor.[2]

Energy Manual[]

Prior to the events of Energy Manual, the Eighth Ancestor summoned the Ìyààmi where he absorbed them. Later on, while in the First Temple, the Fifth Ancestor suggested summoning the Ìyààmi again, having failed prior to unknowing that they were captured - the Seven ancestors created a symbol that only the Ìyààmi cold see and read to call them to them. Instead of the Ìyààmi showing up, the Leza arrived and informed the Seven Ancestors that the Ìyààmi, who were once our loyal servants, were indeed absorbed by the Eighth Ancestor causing them to serve the will of the Eighth, and they no longer recognizing the Leza as their masters. The Eighth Ancestor had taken a part of the Leza when he acquired the Ojuegan eyes, and as a result, the Ìyààmi remained loyal to him - through his control. The Eighths right hand lieutenant, Daza, also became an expertise in the arcane “evil” sciences of ashe, pilfered and twisted from the Ìyààmi. His knowledge was a pivotal factor in his alignment with the Eighth, resulting in his upward trajectory to power.

Post Battle of the Beginning[]

After the Eighth split his essence upon death, the Ìyààmi were viewed as "corrupted" due to them serving the Eighth for the time that they did. The Third proposed to the other Ancestors that the remaining Iyaami be eradicated as his final act of violence and seeing them as a threat. The Third cited he was unable to risk their influence on the created Ḳasairi and Taurari.

Appearance[]

The Iyaami were typically androgynous beings being able to flow between the masculine and feminine sides of Divine ashe.
