Yemoja (translation: Mother of Fish) were one of many sentient creatures created by the Eighth Ancestor that lived under water and in the seas across the Ancient World. They were found throughout the salt and fresh water oceans on Kasa. Their customs and habits were mysterious to life on land intentionally. The Yemoja could breathe above the water for a time as well as communicate through language and song (which they use to lure their victims into the water) as well as telepathically.
History[]
Appearance[]
Description[]
The Yemoja are described as having silver eyes that shine in the dark. The Third Ancestor had noted that their faces reminded him of Masabai women.
"A female with two undefined bulges on her chest, swims toward him in aggression. Her face is hideous and fish-like, eyes glossed with a layer of skin for easier swimming sight, “hair” flowing from her scalp to the base of her spine like antennae of the sea, and gray skin smoother than a newborn. Her teeth are sharp, and her eyes are oval."[1] - Energy Manual (Page 57)
Once the Third Ancestor escaped the depths of the ocean, the goddess of the sea pursued him, leaping out of the water with her hour-glass shape. Underneath her arms were slips that opened up, connecting her arms and rib cage, making it easier to glide through the air.[2]
Society and culture[]
The early Yemoja appear to live in colonies led by Mami Wata, where they functioned as a society. During the "Battle of the Beginning", the Yemoja assisted in helping the Eighth Ancestor in fighting the Third Ancestor, and any trespassers in the sea.
Song and Language[]
The Yemoja are able to speak words, in what sounds like "hisses" underneath the water.
